Today, June 8 is World Oceans Day, a day officially declared by the UN since 2009.
The concept was proposed on 8 June 1992 by Canada at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
World Oceans Day is an opportunity to celebrate the Earth’s waters, the food that it provides, and the marine life.
Global pollution and overfishing have led to a sharp decrease of the population of most marine species.
Unfortunately, only 0.4% of the oceans are protected from extractive activities such as drilling, fishing or mining.
Therefore, I invite you to celebrate with love the oceans, to not contaminate the waters anymore, to not throw garbage in them and to respect more the marine creatures.
