Today I am going to present to you my travel to Florence, the capital of Tuscany, a town full of color, art, and history.
It’s highly recommended that when you choose to visit a tourist destination to analyze in advance its potential tourist attractions.
When I traveled to Italy, I didn’t plan to visit this city; it was something unexpected. Therefore I did not accomplish the idea of checking the main tourist attractions in advance, and I didn’t know what to expect. Now, I can tell you that I do not regret the unexpected decision to visit this beautiful town.
When I first travel to Florence, I discovered a city that you don’t see every day. I was very fascinated by the impressive buildings, the unique history, but also of the people who were there. Everything seemed very special and surprising to me. I felt like even the air I was breathing was different.
While I was walking through the narrow streets of Florence, under the bright light of the sunset, I saw a carriage pulled by two beautiful white horses like you rarely see.
On the front seat of the carriage was the driver, an older man with a white beard and a black hat while on the back seat was a little girl accompanied by her mother while admiring the city. It was a view that stirred a great emotion in me; I felt like I was living in a dream.
I wish I could have such a ride, but the time was short, and I had to stay on schedule. Either way, the next time when I will get back here, I will not miss such a walk.
Among the main tourist attractions, I mention Piazza del Duomo and the group of buildings that make up the entire complex:
- Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore
- Brunelleschi’s Dome, Giotto’s Bell Tower
- The Baptistery of San Giovanni
- The Crypt of Santa Reparata
- The Opera Museum
The Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore is the third-largest in the world after Saint Peter in Rome and Saint Paul in London. Also, another aspect to mention is the capacity of the dome, which can accommodate 20.000 people.
I suggest you admire the Porta della Mandorla (on the left side, a gate which is immediately after the work of Michelino – Dante and Divine Comedy), it shows the Ascension to Heaven of the Virgin Mary, a masterpiece by Nanni di Banco (1420).
Moreover, once you travel to Florence, you should not miss some of the main attractions, such as:
- The crypt inside the cathedral where you can see the ruins of the former church Santa Reparata
- The dome which rises 91 meters above the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore
- The Baptistery of San Giovanni, a sacred building that has the status of a minor basilica
Therefore, I hope that through the pictures attached to this article, I aroused you, even more, the interest in scheduling your next vacation in Florence. You will convince yourself that it is an unpredictable town, a tourist attraction waiting for you to discover it.
